The Ladies of Horror Fiction team is excited to announce our second community wide readalong! During the month of February (coinciding with Black History Month and Women in Horror Month), we will be reading and discussing The Between by Tananarive Due.
When Hilton was just a boy, his aged grandmother saved him from drowning by pulling him out of a treacherous ocean current, sacrificing her life for his. Now, thirty years later, Hilton begins to think his borrowed time is running out. His wife, the only elected African–American judge in Dade County, Florida, has begun receiving racist hate mail from a man she once prosecuted, and Hilton’s sleep is plagued by nightmares more horrible than any he has ever experienced.
As he battles both the psychotic stalking of his family and the unseen enemy that haunts his sleep, Hilton’s sense of reality is slipping away.
The Between Readalong Schedule
The Between readalong will begin on Sunday, Feb 3. Each Sunday we will post discussion questions (and our thoughts!) for each section of the readalong.
February 3
We will kickoff the readalong of The Between with a post on February 3. Drop by and let us know you are joining in!
February 3 – 9
The first week we will be reading all of Part One (prologue – chapter 10).
February 10
On February 10, we will post some discussion questions for Part One of The Between along with our personal answers. We would love for you to join in the discussion by posting on your blog, sharing your thoughts on social media (#LOHFBetween), or answering our questions right here in the comments. You are more than welcome to leave links to your personal posts for others to visit and hear your thoughts!
February 10 – 16
The second week we will read Part Two (chapters 11 – 23).
February 17
On February 17, we will post discussion questions and answers about Part Two of The Between.
February 17 – 23
During the final week we will be reading Part Three (chapters 24 – epilogue).
February 24
We will post our final discussion questions on February 24. If you post a review of The Between on your blog, Goodreads, or on social media, we would love for you to leave those links for others to read as well!
